Without the media, Trump would never have been elected

Journalist Bob Woodward has published a new book, War, which recounts the story of three conflicts—the Middle East, Ukraine, and Russia—alongside the battle for the U.S. presidency.
In it, he reveals several of Donald Trump’s conversations, arguing that the Republican owes everything to the media. “Without the media, Trump wouldn’t have been president. He manipulated them during the campaign and continues to do so,” he said back in 2018.
These statements have resurfaced, especially after this week when Woodward rejected the notion that his newspaper, The Washington Post, should disassociate itself from endorsing political candidates and refrain from supporting one over another.
The media remains a crucial pillar in the U.S. presidential election process.
The announcement of this decision came less than two weeks before the election. Since the 1980s, The Washington Post has endorsed candidates, but this week, its owner Jeff Bezos announced that this tradition would end, following the lead of The Los Angeles Times and USA Today, which have chosen not to endorse either Vice President Kamala Harris or former President Donald Trump.
“I really don’t agree,” Woodward said on The View on ABC.
