A new testimony renewed the hopes and pain of the family of Angie Samantha Peña, who disappeared on the beaches of West Bay , Roatán , on January 1, 2022, while on vacation with her family.
An American witness told Infobae that he witnessed how a woman, dressed in a bathing suit similar to the one Angie was wearing, was forced to leave with a man in the bay of Roatan.
This testimony has provided a significant twist in the case, indicating that Angie could have been the victim of a human trafficking network that, according to reports, operates with impunity on the island.
The witness, who was with his wife in a hotel in the area, said he saw the woman being forcibly taken away by an islander and that someone later gave the man money.
This scene, which initially seemed part of the hustle and bustle of a tourist destination, took on an alarming tone after Angie ‘s disappearance was published on social media, leading the witness to acknowledge what he had witnessed and report it to the authorities.
He reached the authorities
This revealing testimony reached the Deputy Minister of Security, Yulissa Villanueva , who ruled out the initial hypothesis of an accident at sea and directed the investigations towards a possible trafficking network.
Angie’s family has stepped up their demand for justice, accusing judges and police of complicity in covering up this network.
Alleged perpetrator remains at large
Although the Attorney General’s Office has arrested several suspects in recent months, the main suspect, Anthony Frank Grayson, remains at large.
Grayson, who managed a hotel in Roatan , allegedly held Angie at his facility for several days before moving her to another location, according to the Argentine media.
“This case is stalled due to a lack of resources and the complicity of some officials,” a source from Xiomara Castro ‘s government told the aforementioned media outlet, who preferred to remain anonymous.
Despite the obstacles, the Public Prosecutor’s Office assures that it will continue with the investigations to dismantle the trafficking network in Roatán and bring justice for Angie Peña.
The family remains standing, demanding answers and the prompt capture of those responsible.
