The mother and baby were transferred to the Southern General Hospital.
A woman gave birth to her baby at the Choluteca Fire Department substation , where she received emergency care from two paramedics after being unable to endure the labor pains.
The mother arrived looking for an ambulance due to her intense pain, but the contractions began immediately, making labor imminent.
Rolando Durón, spokesman for the Fire Department , said the incident took place at the Ciudad Nueva substation, which serves about ten neighborhoods in the town.
“The paramedics acted quickly and provided immediate medical attention. Fortunately, it was a normal birth without complications,” Durón said.
Once the woman received the necessary assistance , she and her baby were transferred to the Hospital General del Sur (HGS) in an ambulance from the National Emergency System 911.
” The woman is a resident of the Linda Henry neighborhood and there is always staff available at the substation to respond to emergencies,” Durón said.
