After a tense dialogue with the police, the young man decided to let go of the rope.
The National Police managed to thwart a suicide attempt in the Sandoval Sorto neighborhood in San Pedro Sula, Cortés, northern Honduras, where a 25-year-old man was about to take his own life.
The emergency was reported through the 911 emergency line , alerting the authorities about the young man’s serious emotional state.
Police officers immediately arrived at the scene and found the young man in a dangerous situation, with a rope around his neck , standing on a water tank located on the main road of the neighborhood.
At the scene, the police started a conversation with him , trying to convince him to give up the idea of committing suicide.
The support of the neighbors was essential at that moment, who also came to give words of encouragement and support and persuade the young man to get out of the tank.
Noticing his obvious disorientation, the officers asked him if he had relatives in the area.
The young man mentioned that his sister lived nearby, so the police accompanied him to his home. Upon arrival, the sister, surprised by the situation, said that she was not aware of the critical condition of her relative.
The young man’s sister thanked the National Police officers for their intervention and for saving her brother’s life.
