Singer Harry Styles has described the years he spent with his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne as “the most precious” of his life, following the latter’s death after falling from a third-floor hotel in Argentina.
“I will miss you forever, dear friend,” Styles wrote on his Instagram account, after the former members of the British band also released a joint statement last night.
Styles said Payne ‘s “greatest joy was making other people happy, and it was an honor to be by his side while he did that,” adding that he had “an energy for life that was contagious. He was warm, supportive and incredibly loving.”
“The years we spent together will always be the most precious of my life,” the singer said.
The members of One Direction – Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan – said last night they were “completely devastated” after the death of their “brother” Liam Payne.
In a statement released on Instagram, the band members explained that “in due time, when everyone is able, there will be more to say,” but that for now they will take time to “grieve and process” Payne’s death at age 31.
