WHAT HAPPENED?

His injury was a significant blow to Juventus, as the Brazilian defender was an integral part of Thiago Motta’s tactical plans.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
According to Tuttosport, Juventus are mulling over signing Ramos as they see the 38-year-old as a viable option to bolster their defence in the absence of Bremer. The centre-back has been without a club since he left Sevilla and should be eager to ply his trade in the Italian top flight. He has been staying fit by training on his own, and sharing clips of his workouts on social media to show that he is ready for a top challenge.

Moreover, Fichajes reported that aside from Ramos, names such as Joel Matip, Simon Kjaer and Konstantinos Manolas have also been floated in Turin. Nevertheless, Ramos’ vast experience and legendary status make him the most appealing candidate to fill Bremer’s shoes.

WHAT NEXT FOR RAMOS?
While Ramos had offers from Saudi Arabia, Major League Soccer, and the Brazilian top-flight, he has yet to commit to any of those leagues. Notably, Ramos turned down an offer from Saudi club Al-Ittihad before rejoining Sevilla in 2023. Should he now agree to join Juventus, it would mark his debut in Italy’s Serie A, making it his third major European league after La Liga and Ligue 1.
