Three Hondurans were accused of committing the crime of fraud in the process of buying and selling a home in the municipality of Tatumbla, Francisco Morazán.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office, through the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Consumer and Senior Citizen Protection (FEDCAM), filed a fiscal request against the accused, two men and a woman, who allegedly acted as an accomplice to the crime.
The accusation arose after the complaint was filed by the victims, who had signed a private contract promising to buy and sell and build a home in the community of Los Carritos, in the municipality of Tatumbla.
The property, valued at 2,500,000, is currently mortgaged in the name of the developer and seller.
According to investigations, the contract was signed on July 16, 2021. The couple paid a premium of L.250,000.00, with additional monthly payments until the agreed amount was completed.
The work was scheduled to be completed in five months, with a deadline of January 28, 2022. However, construction was not completed as agreed.
Throughout the process, the offended parties made additional payments to the accused, including a transaction of L.537,000.00 and three more transfers, totaling L.1,698,175.00. However, a technical report revealed that the work only progressed 48%, valued at L.657,077.00, well below the investment made by the affected parties.
FEDCAM is handling the case on behalf of those affected and it is expected that the process will move forward to clarify the facts and, if found guilty, those responsible will face the legal consequences for the crime of fraud.
