On Tuesday night, October 22, the sad death of Fernando Valenzuela was announced at the age of 63; this after being hospitalized for several weeks in a hospital in Los Angeles, California, due to kidney problems.

The former Dodgers player was born in Etchohuaquila , Sonora , in 1960 and was the youngest of a large family. This town is located about 15 kilometers south of Navojoa, one of the most important cities in the state.

The baseball player also known as ‘El Toro’ was the youngest of his 12 siblings and his parents were: Avelino Valenzuela and Hermenegilda Anguamea . His passion since childhood was the sport of small ball in a region where hundreds of people dedicated themselves to the field.

Little is known about the baseball player’s parents, but it is known that they always had a relationship with their family.

Who is Fernando Valenzuela’s wife and children?

Toro’s career grew by leaps and bounds and in 1981 his destiny changed dramatically, as he was then traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team where he became a legend.

It was that same year that Valenzuela met Linda Burgos, a school teacher originally from Yucatán. The couple met when he was playing for the Leones de Yucatán in the Mexican Baseball League.

Fernando Júnior, María Fernanda, Ricardo and Linda are the names of his descendants, however, of all of them only the first followed in the footsteps of ‘El Toro’, playing in several teams in the minor leagues of the United States and the Mexican League.

However, Fernando Valenzuela Jr. did not achieve his father’s level of success in the Major Leagues, but his time in professional baseball in both the United States and Mexico allowed him to continue his family’s legacy.
