President Xiomara Castro continued her tour of inaugurations in Olancho, where on Tuesday she delivered important infrastructure projects for the community.

Castro inaugurated phase I of the highway connecting Limones with Salamá, supervised the progress of a modern hospital under construction and handed over two pre-primary education centers.

The first stage of the road, 18.3 kilometers long, links the Limones detour with communities such as Pozo Zarco, Salamanca and Puente Quebrada Ulúa.

This work, carried out with national funds, is an initial step towards the total paving that is expected to be completed next year. The road will facilitate access to the Salamá hospital, another project of the Castro government that seeks to improve health infrastructure in the region.

During her visit, the president inspected the progress of the Salamá hospital, which is 84% complete and represents an investment of 700 million lempiras.

This center, scheduled for completion in September 2025, will benefit 45,000 residents with internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, gynecology-obstetrics, orthopedics and neonatology services.

Castro also inaugurated two kindergartens, one in the village of Talgua and another in the Santa Clara neighborhood, within the urban area of Salamá. These initiatives are part of the government’s plan to rehabilitate the 12,500 schools in poor condition, of which 5,500 are expected to be ready by the end of this year.

Accompanied by her government team, including private secretary Héctor Manuel Zelaya and several ministers, Castro highlighted the efforts of her administration to carry out these works with limited resources.

“Here in Honduras there are short-sighted and blind people who do not see the work we are doing,” the president questioned, alluding to the lack of recognition from some sectors towards the work of her administration.

In her speech, the president also reiterated the need to approve the Tax Justice Law to correct the exemptions that favor high-income families and reduce the burden on the most vulnerable sectors.

Finally, Castro expressed her conviction that only a woman will be able to continue the mission of transformation that she has begun and reaffirmed her commitment to the Honduran people.

“This change is here with the Freedom and Refoundation Party, which has commitments to the people,” he concluded.
